National #DontFryDay: Sun Safety for Memorial Day Weekend
/ By Stacy Brown
As you may guess, we're all about sun safety at ro•sham•bo baby! 1) We sell some of the best polarized sunglasses on the market (that protect your eyes from those nasty sun rays!) and 2) we are all parents!
If you haven't heard of it, "National Don’t Fry Day" was created by the National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention to raise awareness around skin cancer and prevention. The Friday before Memorial Day has been declared as #DontFryDay as a reminder for everyone to protect your skin when outdoors and try and cover up when possible! Especially for families that live in the sunshine year round, like here in San Diego.
To protect your skin, here are some of their recommendations:
Do Not Burn or Tan
Wear Sun-Protective Clothing
Generously Apply Sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher)
Use Extra Caution Near Water, Snow, and Sand
Get Vitamin D Safely
UV damage is just as much of a concern for your eyes as it is your skin! Children run an increased risk of UV damage to their eyes because their lens is still clear and the pupil is wider than in adults. As much as 50% of lifetime UV damage to your eyes occurs before the age of 10 and is irreversible - causing terrible longterm ailments! Learn more about some of our sun safety for your eyes here.
Join us for #DontFryDay and protect your little ones eyes & skin!
